Dr. Marzano's certifications provide national recognition for effective teachers through an independent and rigorous review and verification system. The certification process provides teachers a structured opportunity to engage in deliberate practice where they make decisions in a complex and dynamic classroom environment. Teachers awarded Dr. Marzano's Certifications are able to plan, discuss, and evaluate their teaching against various sources of evidence, including student learning gains, feedback from their supervisors, mentors, and students.

The Marzano Observation and Feedback Protocol is the foundation that builds teachers' knowledge base in effective pedagogical skills. Teachers must not only demonstrate that they understand the "moves" to make (use of an instructional strategy within the appropriate context of lesson segments) but also knowledge of how and when to adapt the "right moves" according to specific classroom situations. Teachers awarded the Certification in Pedagogy are eligible to apply for the Certification as an Expert Teacher.
