Data Reports

Data Structure

The iObservation™ system offers robust data reporting functionalities that allow schools and districts customizable options to meet their needs. Users are grouped in the system according to their levels of permission. Confidentiality is secured by allowing or blocking views, depending on the user's level of permission.

For example, a principal of "X" Elementary may be set up as an Administrator Observer to view all observation results of her school, either individualized or aggregated; she may determine that her assistant principals may also be set up as Administrator Observers to view school-wide data. When her school starts implementing peer observations, she may assign her coaches and mentors as Observers in the system to view only observation results that they have individually completed. At the central office level, administrators stay involved with district-wide activities by easily generating a report on the frequency of observations conducted by school building for each observer.

Data Reports

Reports may be generated at the district, region/area, school building, observer, and teacher levels. Additionally, districts have the option of selecting five (5) additional categories (customizable in the District Edition) that may be used for reporting, sorting, and searching. Possible categories include grade level, department, subject area, tenure status, or level of experience of teachers.

By using a combination of categories, powerful data reports may be generated to help leaders identify trends and make informed decisions. For example, a report may be generated to examine data from ninth grade, non-tenured math teachers by school building. Simultaneously, administrators may also generate a report of ninth grade, tenured math teachers; the ability to view these reports side-by-side helps leaders easily determine trends and patterns to provide appropriate supports based on individual teacher needs.

Supporting Growth

Leaders now have powerful data at their fingertips to make effective real-time decisions focused around improving instructional practice. Additionally, teacher observation data may be correlated with student achievement results to explore instructional strategies that impact student learning.

Consultants from Learning Sciences International or from any of our partners are available to assist districts with data analysis and to provide recommendations on how to use the data to plan and implement for continuous improvement.
